Solveig Sato, Supervisor for Social Services in Bygdöy/Frogne in Oslo, Norway: "Jan D. Hagness has held four two-week seminars in personal motivation, growth, planning and labor market orientation. The objective was to initiate a process that would contribute to inspire people to stop being passive and to actively pursue employment as a part of our community employment program. Some 35 people completed the seminar. Classes were made up of equal parts Norwegian participants and those with other language backgrounds, and there was a great span in attitudes towards work - as well as differences in education and age. Practically all of the participants awarded the highest marks to the instructors, an indication of how the seminars inspired and motivated people. Afterwards, the results have been very satisfactory, seen in the context of the seminars. Some 3 to 6 moths after the seminar, 26 out of 35 have shown initiative. 13 have done so completely on their own, i.e. have gotten jobs or have begun some form of education or training. The other 13 individuals are participating in labor market measures. The Bygdöy/Frogner authorities are very satisfied with the results of the seminars."
